Dominic Greiner took the win in the 1:10 Scale Class at the opening round of the ENS Season. Starting from second on the grid, the German driver got past the pole position starting Jilles Groskamp on the opening lap, and from there never looked back. When asked about the race, the former World Champion was almost at a loss for words, before describing the 45 minute final as a “perfect race”. Admitting to struggles in the qualifying rounds on Friday and Saturday, the newly signed capricorn rc driver said that today, with the temperature increasing again and the track feeling more like it had on Thursday’s Free Practice day, he was again very happy with his car. Also commenting on the work of his pit man, Thomas Günsel, he explained that the new rules in place due to Coronavirus restrictions, meaning just one mechanic was permitted in the pit lane for each car, was “no problem, he was perfect too like always”. The victory takes his ENS tally to six, putting him now equal with the absent Teemu Leino as the most successful in the 1:10 Scale Class in the famous championship.

Reflecting on his runner-up position, Groskamp said that “at the start it was slippery off the line. Dominic had a good start and I didn’t want to fight too hard on the first lap”. From that point, the Creation Model Ltd. Inf1nityofficial driver, who had notched up his third ENS TQ yesterday, seemed reaonably secure in second place, as the Capricorn of Melvin Diekmann initially challenged him but had a flame out at an early stop which cost him five or six seconds and put Groskamp in a strong place. The Dutchman explained that “the car was really good, just about one tenth [of a second per lap] too slow compared to Dominic”. Also taking the time to thank his pit man, Armin Weihert, the 2 time ENS Champion said that “he worked great all weekend for me. It is great to know we are still competitive after this long break”.

With Diekmann recovering to third, he had a fight with fourth place finisher Dirk Wischnewski for much of the race. With Wischnewski just changing the outside two tyres of his Mugen Seiki Racing car, compared to the top three changing all four, he got an early boost in terms of track position, before the advantage swung back to Diekmann as his fresher tyres later in the race allowed him to make back the lost time. Behind, the last of the drivers to not have any major problems in the race, Milan Holthuis moved from seventh on the grid to make it two Infinity IF15s in the top five.
